Nanomaterials for Aerospace Applications

Abstract:
This presentation will focus on the
activities and results of the Texas Institute
for Intelligent Bio-Nano Materials and
Structures for Aerospace Vehicles (TiiMS) at
Texas A&M University. We will present
results on the mechanical, thermal and
electrical properties of structural
nanocomposite materials developed for
aerospace applications.
Bio: Dimitris C. Lagoudas, Ph.D, P.E.
Dr. Lagoudas is presently the
Director at the Texas Institute for
Intelligent Bio-Nano Materials and Structures
for Aerospace Vehicles (TiiMS) and the John
and Bea Slattery Chair of Aerospace
Engineering at Texas A&M University. He is
the recipient of many honors and awards. Dr.
Lagoudas has taught at Lehigh University,
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Texas
A&M University where he currently is
teaching. He received his PhD from Lehigh
University in Applied Mathematics in 1982 and
a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece,
in 1982. He completed his postdoctoral
studies at Cornell University and the Max
Planck Institute.
