Colloquium Date: Monday, January 7, 2008
|
A bi-weekly event to present and discuss issues related to developments, applications and commercialization of nanotechnology.
Nanotechnology in Solar Photovoltaics
Mr. Dan Lee Vogler
President of TekSUN PV Manufacturing, Inc.
(VIDEO CONFERENCED FROM THE AUSTIN OFFICE OF WINSTEAD PC)
Abstract:
Nanotechnologies are finding their way into numerous aspects of solar photovoltaics (PV),
from glass substrates, to coatings, to the Photovoltaic effect in solar cells themselves,
including conversion of light by into electric current by carbon nanotubes, quantum dots
and more. Mr. Vogler will give an overview of thin film PV processes today and expose
several nanotechnologies that are being used today or are in development.
Bio: Dan Lee Vogler
Mr. Vogler is the founder and president of TekSUN PV Manufacturing, Inc., an Austin,
Texas based producer of thin film amorphous silicon solar panels. Educated at the
University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, Dan's first job gained him huge & diverse
experience with LANL, the University of California's Los Alamos National Laboratories.
Projects at Los Alamos included Astrophysical & Meteorological Satellites, Geo-Thermal
Power Systems, Laser Fusion Power Systems, Radiology, and Particle Physics including
sub-atomic Deflection, Absorption & Measurement Systems. Dan has become a serial
entrepreneur, building a half dozen successful electronics businesses in Albuquerque
and Austin, with TekSUN PV Manufacturing being his largest effort to date
