VIDEO CONFERENCED FROM THE OKLAHOMA CENTER FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY)
Abstract:
The presentation will focus on The Oklahoma Nanotechnology Initiative (ONI), how it is funded and operates and why it has as a key focus on applications of nanotechnology. Speaker will provide the background and explanation of The Oklahoma Nanotechnology Sharing Incentive Act of 2006 and the subsequent Oklahoma Nanotechnology Applications Program (ONAP) that provides incentives for emerging and established Oklahoma companies to create new or improved products with nanotechnology. The Oklahoma legislature provides $2 million annually to support ONAP and the ONI through its support of the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST). The presentation will share the successes of the first five companies funded under the ONAP program and the status of the 2008 funding cycle.
The presentation will also share information on the ONI's current regional collaboration efforts with Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas and Arkansas and explore possibilities with Texas.
