"Nano-Tooling versus Nano-Sizing "
Dr.Elishalom Yechiel, Ph.D.
President Elsom Research Co., Inc.
(VIDEO CONFERENCED FROM SAN ANTONIO WINSTEAD OFFICE)
Abstract:
While nano-sizing is an accredited feature of nano-technology, it is at the same time the more basic, simple, and even simplistic aspect for looking at nano-technology. Nano-sizing is an ancient trick and was even applied in potions made in ancient Egypt and other ancient cultures by simple - prolonged - grinding. On the other hand, patterning of small particles involves a completely different level of complexity and sophistication.
Tooling in nano-technology implies that the real challenges of the field begin where small particles are thought to be organized in certain patterns rather than randomly distributed. Nano-technology exposes its great challenges mostly where special applications and tooling are co-developed.
Bio: Elishalom Yechiel, Ph.D.
Dr. Elishalom Yechiel is the founder, President, and Director of Research of Elsom Research Co., Inc., located in San Antonio, TX. Before creating Elsom Research, Dr. Yechiel earned a doctorate in Biochemistry from the Hebrew University, held post-doctoral appointments at Johns Hopkins University and the NIH, and was an Assistant Professor at the UTHSCSA. His research focuses on lipids and membrane structures, especially as they relate to cellular aging and cancer.
At Elsom Research, he designs custom formulations combining nano-biotechnology and botanical ingredients. Dr. Yechiel's innovations in nano-technology include nano-emulsions, nano-encapsulations, co-emulsions, and NanosomesT, primarily for topical cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical applications.
