“Safety and Biodistribution of Gold Nanoparticles”

Abstract:
Nanospectra has an approved Investigational Device Exemption for the photo-thermal
ablation of solid tumors in recurrent and refractory head and neck cancers, and intends
to start a second clinical study in prostate cancer in 2010. In connection with these
filings and related work, Nanospectra has conducted extensive studies of the toxicity
of gold nanoparticles, including gold-silica/core-shell structures and gold nanorods.
The circulation kinetics and toxicity in animal models and, as available, human dosing,
will be discussed
Bio:
J. Donald Payne
Mr. Payne has been the President and CEO of Nanospectra since the commencement of
operations in 2002. As CEO, he has led NBI through the clinical development of its
broad-based cancer therapy, including the determination of the US and European
regulatory pathways, the design and completion of preclinical studies, regulatory
filings with FDA, the engagement of clinical trial sites, and implementation of
cGMP processes. Mr. Payne has held progressively senior positions in the life science
industry since 1992, holding executive positions with biopharmaceutical, tissue
engineering and diagnostic companies
